hurricain't

i'm writing this on the eve of what may be another devastating gulf coast-bound hurricane, almost exactly three years on the heels of hurricane katrina. all traffic is headed out of new orleans this time, and the firmaments and 'second line' of defense are in place. i will continue to hope that everyone in the bayou region makes it out safely and that those of us watching and waiting in brother and sisterhood with our compatriots will uncross our fingers, unclasp our hands, and wake to see the sun shine again on the big easy and surrounding lands.
